
Welcome back to the most cathartic thing I make.
It’s my birthday, and I’m traveling for my wife’s movie, so I thought it was as good a time as any to share some BTS self-care. It’s definitely been a little while — things have been absolutely batshit crazy, obviously — but, if you’re new to Not Important, or need a reminder — we’re not going to talk about any of that here.
This newsletter is where I get to share my favorite books, music, apps, games, recipes, snacks, movies, TV, gummies, whatever (Members can peruse previous editions on the website).
I will admit that my previous format, organized by category, felt occasionally too rigid for what is supposed to be the most relaxing thing I make, goddammit, even if it made it easier to read. So my recommendations are now just one list, called “Good Chemicals”. Maybe I’ll add some relevant emojis if I have the life force to find them, you’re welcome.
But I’ve also added a new community-sourced section, called “Reader Relief”. We’ve already got some great ideas below from Members, and I’d love to include more of how you cope in the year of our lord 2025 — what you’re reading, watching, cooking, playing, or making with your bare hands.
