Transcript 0:00 [on-hold music] Welcome back to The Most Important Question Today, where in just a couple minutes or less, we apply the Actually Pro-Life Principles to a news headline and then help you answer the most important question, "What can I do?" 0:17 [on-hold music] It's Friday, so we are loving on peanut butter and the wonderful South and talking shit about Mike Johnson. You see, there's a peanut paste that brings a starving kid back from the edge of death. 0:35 It's amazing. It's made in America, and the factory in Georgia buys two million pounds of Georgia peanuts every month just for this paste. 0:42 And that's pretty important because by the latest UN estimate, forty-three million kids or so under five are so thin, their height, that doctors call it something called wasting. Forty-three million kids under five. 0:53 That is about six percent of every kid under five on Earth. I've got great news and then some predictable news and then something you can do about it. 1:00 In April, the House passed a farm bill, and inside of it is a miserable floor, which you guys know I love. 1:05 At least two hundred million dollars a year would have to be set aside to buy this peanut paste and get it to the kids who need it. Here are the catches the same House designed for it. 1:13 That floor only switches on if two things are true. One, more than five percent of the world's kids under five have to be wasting. [laughs] Fucking monster. Good news, they are. And two, a U.S. 1:23 food aid fund called Food for Peace has to get more than one point three billion dollars allocated to it that year. 1:29 For the budget year that ended in September, the same House gave Food for Peace exactly one point two billion dollars, not a dollar more, so no peanuts. 1:37 The floor and the budget written by the same people in the same House the same month. 1:42 Tonight, you can buy some fine Georgia peanut paste through UNICEF and through my site, whatcanido.earth, because UNICEF buys most of this food for the whole world and because all those kids already qualify. 1:52 Call both your senators and say one sentence, "Please pass the farm bill before this Congress goes home for good in January and fund Food for Peace above one point two billion dollars." 2:02 [on-hold music] Thanks for listening. Subscribe for more of these and for my longer conversations with incredible humans who've already asked and answered the most important question for themselves. 2:18 You can get more answers for free twenty-four/seven at whatcanido.earth, or you can join hundreds of other important members to support the mission and make your actions go much, much further.
