What Can I Do? Wednesday is a free weekly email that collects the most timely and trending actions from our app into one handy place. 84% of readers rate it “pretty pretty good” or “hell yes”. Manage the emails you get from us here.

Happy Wednesday, Shit Givers.

Huge thanks to everyone for the kind words on our big 1.2 update.

We’ve got incredible stuff coming soon — including way more personalization options for Members, more ways to find IRL people to follow, and all the 2025 candidates you can handle.

PS — Haven’t actually made your profile yet? It takes less than a minute, is free for 30 days, and you just need your phone and ID! Get started!

Let’s go.

  • Be Heard: Virginia has the chance to really piss off Trump and pro-lifers by guaranteeing paid family leave for all workers.

It’s insane people (and mostly women!) should have to choose between a paycheck and taking care of loved ones.

The bill passed both houses of the General Assembly last month — Governor Youngkin has 5 days to sign it.

    • Virginia residents — use our script to call him and demand he do just that

    • People with friends in Virginia — share it!

Call Governor Youngkin Right Meow
  • Be Heard: The Scientific Integrity Act is a bipartisan (I know, right?) piece of legislation that would safeguard federal science from political interference.

As institutions are dismantled all around us, it's more important than ever to protect the scientific process, so that research remains in the public interest. (go)

  • Learn: Perspective is everything.

Follow some (or all!) of the “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics” and curate a (drastically, hilariously) more inclusive vision of the future. (go)

Sure, Trump’s mass deportations haven’t been going nearly as well as he’d hoped, but if you think they’ve stopped trying, you’re wrong.

Pick up one (or all five) of our popular Defend Our Friends sustainable shirts, and 100% of the profits go to our pals at the ACLU.

  • Be Heard: Housing, housing, housing. It’s time to resurrect the Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Act.

Call your senators and US House reps to demand they support more (and more affordable, electrified) housing (near public transportation), everywhere. (go)

  • Learn: Oh, look, it’s more housing! Almost like it’s an enormous self-inflicted problem that affects everything else?

Does your city need more affordable housing? Welcome in! The water’s warm. Check out Local Housing Solutions to help get more shovels in the ground in more places. (go)

  • Get Help: One thing to know about me is I also search “get help for anxiety” all of the time, and sometimes even silently inside my chaotic brain or out loud to my goldendoodle! It’s all of our top search this week, and for good reason.

    Remember: You’re not alone. (go)

  • Donate: One of our more substantial areas of focus is trending for all of the wrong reasons.

Food security is essential for everyone, everywhere, and I’m thankful you’re searching to provide help. (go)

  • Donate: We talk a lot here about how fucked up it is that period products are 1) taxed and 2) inaccessible to a lot of folks, and especially young women in schools in the US — but what about everywhere else?

Check out (and contribute to) Period - The Menstrual Movement to advocate for better policy that supports menstrual health around the world. (go)
