Happy equinox, Shit Givers.
Having lived all over the world, at a wide variety of latitudes, I’m decidedly one of those freaks who loves when the days are shorter, darker, and colder — it’s cozy, goddammit.
But as much as there’s lots of winter left, I get why some folks who aren’t just pagan freaks like me like to celebrate today’s equinox and (eventual) coming of spring.
Like, for example, my incredible sister Molly, whose birthday it is today, and — with all the intentional shade to my brothers and me — is the very best of us. Happy Birthday, Molly.
Finally, and as a nod to my sister, who started this trend in our family — you don’t need to just give for own benefit (tax-donations or otherwise).
In a world where most of us need much less shit, but so many others need food, water, diapers, and even just straight cash, like, right now, a nice card with a donation receipt in the recipient’s name to one of the places below makes for a memorable gift.
What does that person give a shit about, even if they don’t talk about it much? Make it meaningful, pay it forward.
Can’t decide? Well then you’ll love our one big action today, just below. Just make a donation of any size, print up the receipt, and stuff it into a card.
You’re welcome.

If you missed our full 2025 Charitable Giving Guide, it’s here. Tons of great options for your year-end giving. I don’t care why you’re giving to one of these places, I just care that you show up.
Let’s go.

Pods Fight Poverty in Rwanda
I am incredibly pumped to share that we’ve joined with one of the most impactful orgs in the world, Give Directly, and a whole bunch of amazing podcasters to send $1100 to each of 700 families across 3 villages in the Bikara region of Rwanda, who currently live on $1-$2 a day.
The lineup includes:
10% Happier
Hidden Brain
Ologies
Talking Nerdy
You Are Not So Smart
On Purpose
Freakonomics
And many more.
And here’s the best news:
While match funds last, your donation will be 2x matched
I will personally match up to $5000 from our community using our link
Here’s some context. In Bikara:
Most people are farmers, but don’t own large enough plots to grow enough food; many struggle to eat more than one meal a day
Water supply is inconsistent – people often rely on nearby natural streams to collect water when the wells are dry
There are few jobs for young people, and families don’t have the capital to start small businesses
Here are some things your donation can buy in Bikara (and remember — because Give Directly just gives people the cash for what they need, they retain agency to get exactly that):
This is what we’re here to do, friends. It’s Compound Action not just across our community, but teamed up with so many other people who give a shit.
People in poverty deserve to choose how best to improve their lives, and cash gives people the dignity and flexibility to meet their own needs.
By giving today with Pods Fight Poverty, you’re helping families in need in Rwanda choose how to invest in their own futures.

That’s it — thanks for jumping in to help. Have a safe and loving holiday. Fuck ICE.
And thank you — as always — for giving a shit.
