WCID: Moula for doulas, and more

TGIF, Shit Givers.

I just got back from London, where I spent the week meeting with some community members IRL — always a delight — and watching my wife promote and celebrate her new movie, Wicked: For Good.

Please believe me when I tell you it’s one hell of a gorgeous rallying cry for 1) naming and 2) fighting bad guys, and making sure good is not just a word, but something we do.

Let’s go.

Thus always to tyrants.

The 2025 US elections have come and gone (#sicsempertyrannis), and we’re reloading for 2026 with some big product updates.

We’ll reveal our 2026 candidate pipeline soon, but if you’re interested in beating back the bad guys at any level, you can always go to RunForWhat.net, drop in your address, and find out what offices are available to you.

Otherwise — let’s throw the rest of the kitchen sink at our biggest issues and opportunities.

More doulas = more healthy babies and healthy moms

Countries around the world are wrestling with the prospects of a future with smaller populations. In the meantime, the US does a hell of a job keeping doulas out of the delivery room. Which is fucking dumb.

But here’s the thing, as much progress as we’ve made in wealthy countries, areas like Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia are way behind.

We’re working to review and expand our resources in those areas, so in the meantime use our app to support doula training programs in North America, find a doula near you, or, if you’re a doula yourself, families in need of support. Go 👉

Support or find doulas

Global CO2 emissions are steady slash climbing, sigh

Fossil sources are still climbing in many places, but on the other hand, emissions from land-use are down 11% (!) because wildfires are down, and deforestation has slowed in South America.

No matter where you live, you can be heard about, organize for, invest in, or teach about solutions to reduce climate emissions from every sector, all the way down to Real Zero.

Like I tell my children, it’s done when it’s done.

It’s getting hot in here Africa

It’s getting hot here, too, but as shitty as we treat our farmers and farmworkers in the Global North, it’s nowhere near as hot as its getting across Africa, where crop yields are already relatively low compared to other regions.

As populations flee to huge new cities and non-farming jobs, millions are left behind to work on parched farms, to receive very little in return.

But as China, Brazil, and even the UK can attest — these can all be improved on.

Fnd ways to help families and foodchain workers across the continent with our recommendations below.

Help foodchain workers across Africa

That’s it for today — we’re still playing with the format here, but have some very exciting updates coming for Important Members who submit what they give a shit about and their favorite ways to show up in the WCID app!
