Happy Wednesday, Shit Givers.
I’m back in LA with the kids for 36 hours to support my wife’s work. You may have heard of it 🧙♀️. Quick trip, but we’ll take the opportunity to celebrate whatever we can these days.
We crushed some breakfast burritos this morning and now the kids are thirsty to ride in a Waymo. Meanwhile, I’m “locked in” with another cold brew, fighting The Long Defeat at WeWork West Hollywood (where there are SO MANY good dogs just bopping around?).
Let’s go.

🔋 Critical minerals are in everything. Maybe learn about them?
This new report from the IEA offers vital insights for policymakers looking to ensure the responsible and sustainable development of critical minerals as we accelerate into a clean economy (that isn't rife with human rights abuses). Read it.
🧑🌾 How do we food, question mark?
Understand how food policy shapes what we grow, harvest, sell, and eat by taking this four-part crash course from our friends at Civil Eats. Learn how the US government's daily decisions and actions shape the food system all around the world. Get the first part here.
💵 Invest in climate solutions, still, please and thank you
Still got money? Good for you! Azolla Ventures are impact-first investors, only partnering with businesses that share their commitment to large-scale emissions reductions — and a just transition to a better world (which…I realize that sounds insane right now, but we have to keep trying, dammit). Whether you’re building one of those businesses, or want to invest, check out their portfolio here.

🗳️ This is a What’s Hot/Top Searches crossover event!
We’re super stoked how many thousands of you have found amazing candidates to support in November’s state and local elections across the country.
If you take one thing away from today’s issue: your money goes so much further on state and local races than it does on federal campaigns, and — especially these days — state and local’s where you’re going to see the most immediate return on your efforts.
Here’s a couple quick searches to get you started supporting candidates who actually give a shit about what you give a shit about:
Candidates for gun safety
Candidates who’ll fight climate change tooth and nail
Candidates for reproductive rights
Candidates endorsed by Run for Something

👋 Because you love to show up IRL.
Using Conor’s powerful filters, you can slice and dice results however you want. But because it’s been a pretty pretty pretty popular request this week, here’s all of our current volunteer actions.
Show up, show out, aura farm, whatever. We’ll see you there.
⚡️ Get electric.
Tax credits/rebates are going away in the US because of a bunch of fascist cowards, so check out our approved resources for going electric at home, at work, in the car, and more.

Busy as hell? Us too! You can save actions for later with an WCID To Do List!
Thank you — as always — for giving a shit.
