WCID: Feed the kids, everywhere
It's not complicated

Happy Wednesday, Shit Givers.
Before I forget, because I will absolutely forget if I don’t do it immediately, story of my life — we are “off” next week and probably the week after for a variety of reasons:
Willow is getting hitched! Huzzah! 🎉
It’s end of summer/Back to School chaos, everywhere, my god 🎒
It’s almost Labor Day weekend in the US and boy do we need to take a minute to remember/celebrate how far labor unions have gotten us 🤝
We’re a very small team and have a ton of very exciting but time-consuming “under the hood” work to do and can’t really do it all at the same time 😮💨
So — while you can expect a fun announcement or two from us in the next couple weeks (👀), we’ll be back to regularly scheduled programming the first or second week of September.
Thank you as always for supporting our work, and for giving a shit.
Let’s go.
— Quinn

Donate to feed kids in Gaza
The World Central Kitchen kitchens are back up and running and making 200,000 meals a day for the adults and children being intentionally starved to death in Gaza. But 200k isn’t enough, so they’ve set their goal at a million meals a day. Which means they need your help. (go)
Donate to the National Parks
The National Park Foundation partners with the — again, intentionally — critically underfunded National Park Service to generate private support and build strategic partnerships to protect and enhance parks for future generations. (go)
Yeah, it’s back to school time, which means millions of kids let loose on wild west Chromebooks for eight hours a day. And with AI chaos everywhere, it means it’s also the best time to settle in for some free (!) family education time. Our friends at Crash Course have done a real public service with this one. (go)

Murder food waste with Mill
The Mill Kitchen Bin makes it a little easier, recycling your food while you sleep by turning your peels, bones, stalks, and leftovers into nutrient-rich grounds.
Great news: our favorite way to stop food waste at home — especially when emptying out lunch boxes, lordy — is $125 off for Labor Day. (go)
Protect your online privacy (no judging) with a VPN
You don’t need to read everything from 404 or The Markup to understand gnternet privacy isn’t great at the moment. Isn’t Great. Protect yourself (and all of your info) with the VPN I use every day — Mullvad. (go)

Teach About Anything We Cover, Really
Shout-out to all the teachers and aides and everyone trying to help the next generation on barebone resources. We’ve got some great free and reputable stuff here you can use for yourself, at home, or in the classroom, and we’ll keep adding to it as we go. Recommendations are always welcome!

Back to school means for kids everywhere. Grace Honduras is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and families living and working in the trash dumps of Honduras, by fulfilling their needs holistically through education, health care, housing, and family support. (go)
