Happy weekend, Shit Givers.

Welcome to our first What Can I Do? Action Update!

Expect this ditty to evolve over time, but the goal is to share what’s new, what’s trending (or “got rizz”?), and I don’t know, maybe a couple unheralded gems you might otherwise miss?

Let me know what would be most helpful to you and we’ll make it great.

PS — Haven’t made your profile yet? It takes less than a minute, is free for 30 days, and you just need your phone and ID! Get started!

Now then — let’s put our thumb on the scale, shall we?

— Quinn

  • Be Heard: 21 states still need Medicaid coverage for doulas. That’s dumb. Call your reps and insist they support The Mamas First Act.

  • Be Heard: New York is this close to making big polluters pay for adaptation infrastructure investments. It passed the state Senate, it passed the Assembly, we just need Kathy to sign it. Call her with our script.

  • Donate: to Indigenous Mutual Aid and make your dollar go much, much farther (further? Sure). It’s not charity. It’s community.

  • Volunteer: Participate in MIT’s DeBunkBot research project that studies the interactions between humans and AI.

  • Donate: Here’s 49 state candidates endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety. You know why, and you know what to do (donate to all of them).

  • Be Heard: 1.3 million people die globally every year from TB despite it being curable. Nope. Call your House reps to insist they vote for The End TB Now Act, which already passed the Senate.

  • Learn: How does the IATP support policy that protects public health through agriculture?

  • Learn: Check out YIMBY Action to get training and tools and more housing in your backyard.

  • Learn about global health with some of the top free courses on the planet.

  • Donate to food security and reputable frontline groups across the country (and world).

  • Be Heard about healthy school meals for all

That’s it for this week — short and sweet! Remember — you can save actions for later with an WCID profile!

Let us know what you want more of or find most helpful! Like more exclamation points!

Was this WCID action update helpful?

  • Hell yes
  • Pretty pretty good!
  • Not quite what I was looking for
  • Not at all
