Friends,
It’s Quinn, jumping in for Willow in this special Monday edition.
Willow’s been/continues to be absolutely buried producing and editing our incredible special podcast series with Run for Something (if you haven’t checked it out yet, all of the episodes are right here).
While she brings it home, I’ve got a quick combo It’s Called Science./WCID Weekly edition for you.
There is a massive, massive election tomorrow in the US.
Now, you may have heard about big, essential elections in Virginia, and New Jersey, and Prop 50 in California, and the Georgia Public Service Commission, and something something something about the New York City mayoral race, but I’m here to tell you yes, those are all important as hell and if you live in those places you should absolutely show up to vote (if you haven’t already!), but also know this:
There are thousands (thousands) of also essential local elections tomorrow, too. Mayors, city councils, school boards, and more.
And in a world where you, like us, are desperate for any kind of hope and change you can actually touch and feel, much less contribute to, these are the elections to show up for.
But voting isn’t enough.
Electing people who give a shit — renters, parents, people of color, women, people who trust 99% of scientists on climate change, and vaccines, basic stuff, you know — will measurably improve your life and the lives of your neighbors — so we need to make sure your neighbors know there is an election tomorrow, and who to vote for.
So two steps:
Go here and choose one of the 300+ candidates running for any office, somewhere within striking distance of you (YMM literally V)
Make phone calls or knock on doors for them today, or tomorrow, until the polls are closed. Just go. Show up. Do it.
That’s it. Donations won’t do anything at this point. Just go and show up. Swing one voter, or help them turn in their ballot, or tell them where their voting location is.
Every vote counts — especially at the local level.
Let’s bring it home.
Thanks for giving a shit,
— Quinn
🗳️ If you're in the US, have you already voted?
